Instonians end 25-year wait for Senior Cup glory with extra-time win over Queen’s in Final
Instonians 36 Queen’s Uni 26 (After extra-time)
It was a dramatic Final which went all the way to extra time before the sides could be separated and then it proved to be Instonians who did enough to take the trophy and bridge a 25-year-gap since their previous success.
With both Instonians and Queen’s University stuck together at 26-26 in a cracking encounter, the Shaws Bridge side managed the added time with more accuracy, Ritchie McMaster’s penalty putting them ahead and then, right at the end, Neil Saulters was driven over to seal it, the final act being McMaster’s conversion.
